One SISchool, a growing journey

Across the school

Your child's languages

  1. We track progress properly

We use the Bell Foundation framework, a leading international approach, to understand each child's English across listening, speaking, reading and writing: from their first two weeks, then at least every term.

  2. We teach with language in mind

Teachers plan vocabulary, use visuals and sentence support, and let children use their strongest language as a bridge into English. Your child may call this translanguaging.

  3. We keep you in the loop

If your child joins us new to English, we will update you within the first six weeks to share how they are settling in. Translation devices are available when extra support is needed.

How you can help at home

The single best thing you can do for your child's English is to keep their home language strong. Read together, tell stories, and talk richly in the language of your home. Skills built in any language transfer to every other.
