Meet the Team: Interview with Miss Alessia

From the historic streets of Tempio Pausania to the academic excellence of the University of York, Miss Alessia brings a unique academic perspective and an encouraging heart to our English department 🌍

🎤 What inspired you to become a teacher?

🔶 "My journey started through volunteering with an NGO. Supporting others in their language learning made me realize how much a second language had given me personally. I wanted to give others that same life-changing opportunity."

🎤 How does your international experience shape your teaching?

🔶 "Living and studying in the UK and the USA helped me truly understand what it feels like to communicate in a language that isn't your own. This is why I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to express themselves without fear of making mistakes."

🎤 What is your top tip for students learning a new language?

🔶 "Don’t wait until you feel 'ready' to speak! Use the language even if you aren’t sure it’s perfect. Make mistakes and have fun with it! Learning a language is about discovering a new version of yourself and seeing the world differently."

🎤 A little secret?

🔶 "I am TEFL-certified and have a deep passion for global perspectives, which I bring from my studies in Philosophy and Politics into the classroom every day!" 💡

We are proud to have Miss Alessia’s expertise and dedication in our team as we continue to shape the global leaders of tomorrow.
