Here is a glimpse into his international experience, life lessons from students, and advice to his younger self:
🌏Having worked in international education for years, what is the most valuable lesson children from around the world have taught you?
"The most valuable lesson children have taught me is that, wherever we come from, we are far more alike than we are different. I've had the privilege of living and working in the UK, Germany and different parts of Italy, and I've met children from every corner of the world. They may speak different languages, celebrate different traditions and eat different foods, but they all want the same things: to belong, to be listened to, to feel safe and to be loved."
🍕 Moving and adapting to new cultures is a big part of international teaching. What was the biggest culture shock or adventure you've experienced?
"One of the greatest adventures has simply been saying "yes" to opportunities that living abroad has presented.
The biggest culture shock? Probably discovering that no matter which country you're in, bureaucracy always seems to have a secret set of rules that nobody tells you about. I've learned that patience is an essential life skill when navigating a new country.
What I've enjoyed most, though, is the people. Along the way I've tasted incredible food, seen some amazing places and built friendships that will last a lifetime."
💬 Kids say the most unexpected things! What's the funniest quote a primary student has ever said to you?
"Getting accidentally called mum always made me laugh as a teacher or being asked if the teachers sleep at school or do they have homes?"
💡 If you could travel back in time to your own school days, what advice would you give little Chris?
"I'd tell him not to worry so much about having everything figured out, that it’s ok to make mistakes and also ask him to start learning Italian at an early age instead of playing so much Sega Megadrive."
We are so proud to have Mr. Moore leading our Primary school!
