Here is a glimpse into his tech journey, his approach to AI in education, and how he likes to unplug:
🖥️ What was your very first computer or gadget?
"My first computer was an Atari 800 which was the first console to have a keyboard. The first game I coded was an 8-bit Snake."
🤖 How do you teach students to use AI and tech as tools for creativity rather than distraction?
"EU law sensibly prohibits AI-use until after the age of 14. In class we learn think-and-use techniques so that when students eventually use AI, they can be powerful thinkers using a powerful tool to express their own original ideas."
🌊 What is your go-to "digital detox" after a long week of screen time?
"I go into nature - either the mountains or the sea. Diving is my favourite activity, even shallow dives at the most boring beach helps me to do a digital-detox."
💡 If you could travel back in time to your own school days, what advice would you give young Kiers?
"Try harder with the things that don’t come easily. So much inspiration and satisfaction can come from the most unexpected places. If we only look towards the things we already know, we can miss some real gems."
